I got this trailer randomly while searching for Movie times at Fandango:

I do love that they put in Fort Minor!!!

Weirdly enough this movie actually looks entertaining!

That being said, I do have something to say on the idea of Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Though realizing that this while inevitably be a kids movie (which it so rightly should) I feel that because I've grown up so much that this remake wont appeal to me like the original one did.

Not to mention that not everyone is from the Bronx so we wont understand the whole racial issue thing that will most likely be involved (but than again I'm just speculating).

I guess me point is what I mentioned above, that this movie does look entertaining, it doesn't look like it would interest someone of my age group.

DVD Vs. BluRay!!

Before I start I just want to say that this isn't a arms race between Blu-Ray's and DVD's. Obviously Blu-Rays are better I'm merely stating that they need to really think about what they are doing before they come out with something.

I mean DVD's have only been around since 95, why the sudden change in products!? It's took VHS 25 years to get the product out.

Ever since the DVD has been around it's been talked as being a huge step in our home entertainment! Same was said for the Blu-Ray Disc.

And in that regard I agree.

But when they talk about Hi-Def I get confused. I personally don't have a Hi-Def Plasma TV, my TV is Standard Definition (meaning it's almost Hi-Def) but when I want to watch something on Blu-Ray I go to my dads house (he's got a 62" Plasma TV). And I noticed something a while ago...

The difference is almost completely unnoticeable. And Actually while watching a Blu-Ray on my dad's TV I could see some places where the pixels weren't fitting correctly to the screen (if that makes any sense...)

I found this list of Pro's and Con's of various websites such as Helium, Yahoo Answers,

Blu-Ray

Pros:
-high storage capacity of 25 Gb per layer.
Having more storage capability means that more data can be stored per disc. For movie watchers, this means that the image and audio quality can potentially be better than other formats such as DVD (which can only store 4.7Gb per layer). More content (such as trailers, interviews, behind the scene clips) can also be squeezed into the standard disc. For gamers, it means basically the same thing, more space equals less compression, which means better graphics and sound. Bonus materials such as more levels, weapons, etc.
-supported by big name retailers such as Blockbuster Video and Target Corporation.
Blockbuster Video, one of the largest video rental store is set to carry Blu-Ray movies in 1450 other stores, while Target Corporation, one of USA's top retailer, announced that it will expand its Blu-ray disc inventory as well as exclusively carry Blu-ray stand alone players through the holiday season. It currently does not carry any other high definition DVD Players other than Xbox 360's HD DVD addon. This means that the availability of Blu-ray products will be more widespread as compared to its competitor such as HD DVD.

- Ownership
Unlike downloads -- or cable's Video on Demand service -- Blu-ray enables you to own your movie. Like the standard-def DVD, you can start collecting a library of Blu-ray films that can be watched over and over.
Cons:
- Blu-ray players generally more expensive than its competitors.
- Hi-def media requires hi-def ready television sets.
If your television set is not hi-def ready, the difference in quality between Blu-ray and normal DVD would not be that apparent.
- Region Coded + DRM enabled.
In an attempt to stop/deter piracy, Blu-ray employed both region coding as well as DRM (digital rights management). Region coding makes it such that movies bought from a region A (eg. USA) cannot be played on a player that is bought in region B (eg. Europe). DRM is used to only allow the disc to be played if certain conditions (such as whether the player has been tampered with, whether the disc being played has the correct ID, etc) were met. It usually would not pose any problem unless you want to make a copy of the protected disc.
- Data stored very close (about 0.1mm) to surface of disc.
Data in the Blu-Ray Disc is stored very close to the surface of the disc (0.1mm) as compared to DVDs and HD DVDs (0.6mm). Scratches of more than 0.1mm will possibly damage all data stored under the scratch marks. However, various companies have came up with their own method of hard-coating the surface to make it scratch proof. TDK's Durabis technology is one such method and claims to be able to withstand steel wool scrubbing.
- Downloads

While this site believes digital downloads are years away from becoming a convenient way to watch movies at home, some analysts disagree. They say companies such as NetFlix, Microsoft and TiVo will soon enable viewers to watch a new video release without having to leave the house -- and waiting long periods of time for the video to download. If true, the Blu-ray business could sputter and eventually die away.

It just bugs me that they are trying to force us to spend more money by buying more expensive TV's, more expensive Videos, And more expensive Video Players. Some of us aren't shitting out money.

Now as most of who ever stumbles upon this blog (I like poking funny at the fact that only one or two people read this thing, but only if I continuously bug them to XD) know.

I LOVE Video Games!!!

And the one Game that has stuck in my heart (other than Halo) is Splinter Cell. This game has been around since the Original Xbox (I remember I got it back in '02). After that faithful day every time a new Splinter Cell Game came out I immediately went out and bought one (or "Borrowed" it from a friend).

When the news came down the pipe that they were going to make another Splinter Cell I jumped out of chair, after coming back from the Hospital, I rejoiced.

Seeing that it still had The "Tom Clancy" Name on it I knew that it wouldn't disappoint.

With the news that Splinter Cell: Conviction was being delayed at in 2007, At first I was really saddened, but seeing stills and somewhat vague reviews on the progress of the game and it's multiplayer, I can't help but jump for joy about the delay news.

Weirdly enough I just now found out that it was delayed in '07. Thanks to the very helpfully Wikipedia (though there info tends to be wrong a lot of the time, since it's written by people, and people tend to spin bullshit and pretend to know what they are talking about when, in reality, don't know anything).

Though at the beginning of every delay, it has this effect that makes you sad that you won't be able to play it from a few more months. This Delay gave the guys over at Ubisoft Montreal more and more time to get this game right! They rebuilt the fighting mechanics to make a more violent Sam Fisher. They upgraded the graphics to finally make a true NexGen Game. They took what they learned (or were learning) from Assassin's Creed 2, and fitting it into the world of Splinter Cell. To explain this I'll have to show you...

Watching this I very nearly Crapped my pants (I would have said the other thing but that would have come out as a little to vulgar even for me).

While This game looks amazing, I'm a little confused at the fact that Assassin's Creed 2 was made by the same guys, so why are the graphics so astoundingly different? Don't get me wrong the game has some amazing Gameplay graphics and Gameplay mechanics, I have to cringe every time I watch a scene within the game that has HORRIBLE motion (what That means is that whilst playing the game some of the characters movements were poorly animated, they twitched and moved in ways humans don't normally move)

And I could have sworn I saw a part in the "cinematics" where I saw through someone!!! I Thought they got rid of that!!!!!

The Tournament Review

Thanks for checking out our Review, this film is from first-time director Scott Mann, I doubt this film made it to a full American release. It came out some time in September. surprisingly it has some great american and british actors including one Scottish actor who is slowly rising to earn great roles in Tv and film, Robert Carlyle!

The Story
Every Seven years in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place. A battle royale among 30 of the world’s deadliest assassins. The last man standing receives the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of World's No 1 (which itself carries the legendary million-dollar-a-bullet price tag). The Tournament is set up by a group of sick high-stake billionaires who watch the mayhem unfold via CCTV and bet on its outcome. Each of the assassins carry a tracking device, embedded under their skin, allowing the observers to monitor the Tournaments movements and the assassins to track each other.The tournament lasts twenty-four hours, and if no assassin has won then the tracking device under their skin will explode. When the French man removes his tracker and throws it into a coffee pot, a local priest (Robert Carlyle) who inadvertently swallows it is caught in the crossfire.

The Good
Surprisingly this movie uses the camera really well, watching through the entire movie. I never saw a bad angle or shaky cam that made me dizzy. Finally a well done action flick without shaky cam that is actually entertaining to watch. Gasp!! Have people finally realized that to much shaky cam just looks stupid. The action in the movie is excellent, sooo much blood, and kickassery that it made me giggle like a school girl (well... more than I already do XP). It's one those films where anyone of them could die at anytime, and you wouldn't see it coming, I love it!!!

The Bad
I'm really getting tired of these movies about Battle Royales (unless it's actually "Battle Royale" cause that book is fucking awesome.) Being controlled by billionaire's and gambling over people's lives. I do have another problem with this movie, (kind of a spoiler, but it's just explaining his character) Robert Carlyle plays a whining, terrified priest. And throughout the whole movie, that's all he does.

All-In-All
This is one of those movies you should rent on a long lazy weekend, along with others. 8.5 out of 10.

Gaming Talk: Microsoft Natal

Today I want to talk about the new project that Microsof t has been working on. The Microsoft Natal is supposedly going to be better than the Wii. It revolutionary Motion sensors are made to watch your every move and than move then character the exact same way.

It also comes with facial recognition, so you wont ever have to recover your gamertag, it will automatically sign you into that persons Xbox.

The Good
This looks to be really fun, The interactivity between family members looks promising (It's been a LONG time since me and my family ever sat down to do anything together). The graphics also look to be a step up from the Nintendo Wii's graphics (though still toned down a lot.)

The Bad
There are actually a lot of things that look bad about this thing. First, The fact that you now have a camera sitting in your living room, your bedroom, or where ever you play your games. This leaves it open for anyone to watch what you are doing. Secondly, The price of this may come out to be outrageous. Thirdly, I've been hearing rumors around that this product may not Fully work with your older 360 models. Which means you'll have to go out and pay another $299 just so you can use this product to its full potential. Plus what I said earlier about its price, what if it comes out to being $150, that plus the xbox would come out to almost $500!!! Would you spend all that just for the Natal?

Another thing that I thought I should talk about separately is the utilization of this product in the games itself. The President of Bungie stated that Halo: Reach will be using this during parts of the game. Now here's where I'm sitting, I'm sitting here reading that going "WHA--!! You mean to tell me that during any point in the game you'll have to get up really quickly from your VERY comfortable coach and do some stupid move for five seconds and than sit down. Now that's to much work for me!!" Weirdl enough I'm not fat! I'm just really lazy!! I guess it's from all those years of using a controller, that's gets me worried that I might not get into this new type of gameplay.

All-In-All
I'm sure my kids are going to love this, when I'm all old and talking about the good ol' days when we used to play with Controllers, and they'd look confused and ask me what a Controller is!

The Fourth Kind Review

This is one of those movie's that plays off of people's paranoid fears of Aliens and being abducted. They use the footage to add a bigger sense of creepiness to the film.

Story:

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien

encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document…until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, “The Fourth Kind” is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, “The Fourth Kind” exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

The Good
The thing I think freaked me out about the movie was the "Never-Before-Seen" archival footage that they showed in the film. Just the sudden realization of what would happen if you were forced to remember something horrible happening to you, again.

The Bad
The Actor who played Dr. Abigail Tyler (Not Jovovich! Yes, this movie was a fake! Get over it!!), her eyes bugged the hell out of me! Every scene that shows her I'm just sitting there thinking Jesus! Her eyes are HUGE!!!! and "Dear God, Woman! BLINK!!!" Not to mention Milla Jovovich's horrible acting. Her voice is completely void of any emotion, everytime she'd talk I'd cringe in my seat.

All-In-All
I'll give this movie a decent rating just because of the effort they put into making this movie as believable as possible.

I'm giving it a 5.5.

2012 Review

WARNING: This review may contain Spoilers.

This was one of those movies that I thought was going to suck, same with "The Day After Tomorrow" but I ended up loving that movie. Same goes for this one. Why would anyone want to miss the end of the world. As of right now it's up 300% on imdb.

General Idea
When a prophesied apocalypse appears to be coming true, a struggling writer and father (John Cusack) has to race against time and the odds to lead his family to safety and salvation in the latest film from Roland Emmerich, the director of The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day.

The Good
Two Things. The first being, Just like most of Emmerich's films, it starts off like an average day and than disaster ensues. This is were it hits its strongest, this movie has some of the most amazing graphic disasters throughout the film. I'm sure millions of CGI people died. While watching I couldn't do anything but go "Whoa... look at the pretty boom boom."
Secondly, is the emotional aspect they throw into the pot. Every single one the main actors conveys amazing emotion during the duration of the film. The two that showed the most (actually the three) in the movie were Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and John Cusack. They portrayed the loss of peoples lives amazingly, it felt like they truly cared for the people who died.

The Bad
The only thing that bugged me was the occasional shitty extra, that spat a few lines in the movie. If you have a keen eye for mistakes in movies you'll see what I'm talking about. and the fact that John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor seem to be the main focus of the movie and we already know that neither of them are going to die, while millions of others die horrible during the duration of the movie.

All-in-All
for a giant, epic, disaster movie I'd have to say it lands right up there with the greats (thats for you to decide what the great are). I'll give this movie a 9.5! I would have given it a 10 but people seem to think I like movie's to much, so I'm toning the ratings down (I'm kidding, the reason is because there were some things that bothered just me and I don't want to ruin the film for others.)

Halo... That's All You Need To Know!

When you say the word "Halo" People immediately think of the FPS (First Person Shooter) Video Game Franchise. But actually I prefer the books of the games over the game itself.

The reason for this is because the books give more insight and more information, and explain the story in more detail than the games ever could.

Don't get me wrong I love playing the games. It's just how they go about the story in the games that bug me, they seem to like to hold onto a linear story plot and never let go. (i.e. The Flood)

Sidenote: The Flood are the stupidest characters they have ever introduced to the games (Even in the first one). They are just lame. It's funny how the completely forgot about them when making ODST.

Now to mention, Reach! Ok! This I am excited about only because IT'S REACH!! They are finally gonna tell that story. But here is where my excitement ends. I know for a fact that they will most likely stick to only one particular storyline and they will never explain the whole story like the book did. I don't see why they can't, Bungie is big enough now to create a vastly awesome LONG game (their games tend to be very short, my little brother Ryan beat all four games in less then two days.)

I know that making a game that immense would cost a load of money and time to make but the fans can wait (and trust me they will buy it, I would.) Seeing as how it's not a film that has to be a length of 2 hours, a game like this shouldn't have such time restrictions.

Reach is such a big planet, why would you only tell a story that would last only 16 hours of gameplay, when you could create something that lasts weeks! Maybe if they start a thing with microsoft to ship out one story but when you buy it you can later download more and more of the storyline from Bungie. that way they can keep the story of Reach going, while making money.

I know people will hate me for this, but I will always live by my philosophy which is "To never sacrifice Story just for an easy buck."

Metal Gear Solid "Why Hollywood Should Never get a Hold of it."

First off let me say that I've been a fan of the "Metal Gear" Franchise since I was a kid. Although back than they didn't have as massive a storyline as the newer ones do. and when I heard the news that the game was getting made in Hollywood at first I was excited, but now that I heard they are thinking of making Christian Bale "Solid Snake" I was like "Whoa, Whoa!!! He looks nothing like him and plus his voice is to fucked up to even sound like him!!"

Not to mention that people are saying that he should play both Solid and Liquid Snake. This is where my tolerance for stupid ideas hits its limit. And here are my reasons!!

1) They may be twins but so many different things happened in their own lives, so that now they look nothing alike!

2) Liquid has long Blond hair. Snake has slicked back long brown hair.

3) Liquids jaw is thinner than Solid Snakes.

4) Liquids brow-ridge is bigger.

5) Solids has more muscle than Liquid ( at least until MGS 4)

My vote get Sean Bean to play A little Older Liquid.

or have Jesse Spencer play him if Bean is to old to play the young Liquid,
And Bradley Cooper to Play Solid Snake!!

Why not Bradley Cooper!? The guy needs to expand his Acting Resume. Plus I think he can pull off playing Snake, or hell, even Naked Snake (Big Boss) if he has to. Cause weirdly enough he looks a lot like both of them.

But I will damn the movie if they do that Bullshit with green-screen and have him play both rolls!!!! Every time I see that in movies I can never believe it. Not to mention the fact that Big Boss is already pretty old when Snake first meets him (Againish).

Also, another thing that could possibly condemn this film is if the studio goes its own way with the story of the film. Why the hell don't they collaborate with the creators of the game and make a true adaption of the "Metal Gear Solid" Franchise!! I know for a fact that Hideo Kojima would never let his game be disrespected with a shitty American Adaption (Face it, when it comes to making a true adaption we tend to shit all over it).

So Basically, all I'm saying is that I hope they don't fuck it up and hire the wrong people.

Friday Rant: Star Wars

Ok, I got into a huge arguement with my ex-girlfriend a couple of days ago (no not about us, ironically about Star Wars, weird huh.) and seeing as how my love for star wars has yet to die out (as is also the case with my Ex), I thought I would take this rant to talk about my Love For the Star Wars saga (And hopefully not my Ex). Even though the franchise has been going down hill since "The Phantom Menace."

It was 1995 when I first saw episodes 4-6 (Hey I'm only 21!!) So that would mean I was eight when I saw them. When "May the Force Be With You" was held with such a religious undertone, it was made biblical. However I cared little for Luke and Obi, Their child like encounters and interactions did not interest me in the least. I wanted to know the Dark side of the force and how it came to be. I wanted to know the truth behind why the Jedi and Sith hate each other so much.

But of course I was let down.

My childish ambitions for giant space battles were quenched, and my hatred for George Lucas grew when he promised greatness for the next prequels of the trilogy and didn't deliver!

Now I will admit that Lucas is an amazing storyteller, and knows how to show it. But as George Lucas gets older so does his creativity and passion for respecting the fans.

I would write more but I just don't have it in me.

Sequel... or... Prequel?!?!

Apparently, Robert Sanchez from IESB had a chance to throw a few questions at Zack Snyder during the cocktail reception. Simply asked when the second 300 film would be based, Snyder responded saying it would take place

“between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea”

So, let me get this straight the next movie will begin in the middle of the first and than lead through to the next. I'm confused, why would they do that? It doesn't make any sense. I would have just left it as is, I'm not big on sequels to movies that don't need them.

If the studios are just making this for more money I don't see why they don't just make an entirely new film, instead of just leeching more money from a franchise that don't need another one. All that being said I will still go see it, just because I'm huge fan of Zack Snyder.

We're F&$%ing Warner Brothers!!!

"Mass Effect" Being Brought the the Silver Screen by Avi Arad

In 2006, Arad resigned his position as CEO of Marvel studios to form his own company, Avi Arad Productions. He still acts as executive producer on all Marvel films and television projects.

Avi Arad, ex-CEO of Marvel studios, has optioned the movie rights to the 2007 hit game Mass Effect.

With his own company, it appears that he is targeting video game adaptations with this Mass Effect project as well as a film based on the Lost Planet video game, which was confirmed this summer.

Mass Effect was developed by Bioware, the creators of the super-successful Knights of the Old Republic (the best Star Wars game ever!!). It is published by Electronic Arts (EA) and was released exclusively on the Xbox 360 console and later the PC.

I would actually love to see this made into a movie. Me and my other Co-host (who refuses to do any podcasts with me, sorry folks) Jeremy were arguing about which game they should make into a movie and this one was on the top of the list. To be honest I was never to big on the idea of a Film "Adaptation" of a Video Game. So many things can go horribly wrong, awful casting, a bad story, neck-breakingly horrific graphics, and (The Kicker!!) Cliché Dialogue.

Of course it has it's flaws, but every game and movie does. I just hope they don't screw it up like they always do. But at least we have Arad on our side. Then again, he did Fuck us over when he said that Galacticus wasn't going to be a storm cloud!! and that spider-man 3 was going to be better then the first two!!!

That's like saying that George Lucas can make a Serious, Dark, and Awesome Star Wars trilogy. You've lost your touch after 4 thru 6. HA!!! (I hope I don't get sued hhaa haha...)

Is Maguire being Bought off?

It is reported that Maguire is set to earn a record $50 million dollars for the back-to-back shooting next summer over 6 months. What makes this deal even more unique is that Maguire is only expected to be working HALF DAYS! I wish I could work half days for 50 dollars, let alone the quarter of a million Tobey Maguire will earn every day (unless I’ve done my maths wrong, which is quite probable).

Is it just me or is the studio so desperate to make more money that they had to bribe Tobey back to swing the web of Spider-Man. Here's what we all need to understand, He's an actor and actors need money to live. (well ok, we all need money to live.) But if he doesn't want to do anymore Spider-Man movies then He shouldn't have to.

I did enjoy Tobey as Spidey but now I think they should hand the spider powers over to someone else, someone without an annoying lisp. I can believe him when he's playing Peter Parker but I just can't take him seriously as Spider-Man. Way to much emotion and not enough smart ass humor.

Ok, when I first heard about this small documentary I heard it from those guys over at The Movie Blog. This Documentary is based on probably the greatest find in the history of the human race. It was playing at the the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. It focuses around a group of people who discovered it under the ice of Norway. This gives me a whole new understanding (and confusion) about Norse Mythology.

I have to bring this up (And, I know, a lot of people will argue with me on this discussion) Yes! They did use this mechanical machine in the game Too Human along with the idea that if the human race used this technology to create better and more advanced weaponry and age regressing then it will all be fine until the thing you used to create these wonderful new advancements goes on a rampage killing thousands and then replicates. So then you have to go and destory these new threats.

All-in-all those people who believe that turning it on and creating new things for humans, are all idiots and will be the first ones to be killed.

Spaceballs: The Animated Series

I am not big on this idea. It's been 21 years since the release of Spaceballs and I don't think that now would be a good time to bring it back (Seeing as how today's spoof movie's are pure shit). It would be offensive to ruin something that is great and meaningful to my childhood.

Another sad note, only two of the original cast are returning for this, Mel Brooks himself will be playing as President Scroob/Yogurt. Daphne Zuniga as the Druish Princess Vespa (who recently returned to the drama scene as Brooke’s manipulative mom on One Tree Hill.

Babylon A.D. director Mathieu Kassovitz had no qualms about pointing the finger at executive meddling as the reason his film sucks. And now acclaimed director Alex Proyas is throwing up the finger (so to speak) in Fox’s face–and his displeasure is a veritable death sentence for what might have been one of the coolest comic book movie adaptations of all: The Silver Surfer.

Alex Proyas (Dark City, which if you haven’t seen, run, don’t walk and get the DVD) tried to play coy at first, telling eager reporters at this year’s Comic-Con that his involvement with The Silver Surfer flick was nothing but Internet rumor. However when MTV News Silver Surfer flick, but went on to give one very specific reason: spoke with Proyas, the director again axed any rumors that he was working on a

“Because it’s a Fox picture,” the ‘Dark City’ helmer said. “And I’m determined never to work with them ever again because of my experience on ‘I,Robot.’ "

I actually completely agree with Proyas on this one, however I did love I, Robot. That's a really bad move for the suits over at FOX. But they do have a habit fucking a lot of directors over, and a lot of television shows as well (such as, Firefly, Futurama, etc) but they arent't the only ones to do this to them.

It's not surprising in the least that the studios would screw over a show, even though its fan base is enormous, and even if they are continuing to sell, making a huge profit, plus new people keep buying them everyday. It's a strange thing to wonder whats going through there heads.

The Story

Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop takes a high-risk job and escorts a woman from Russia to America. However, little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah.

The Good
I just plain loved this movie, This movie had the distinct feel of a Sci-Fi flick. Generally I'm not to big on the whole over-the-top sci-fi, but this film kicks it out of the park with its mix up special and Visual effects. You notice straight away that this movies gonna be awesome when you see Vin Deisel actually acted really well.

The Bad
Yes, the action doesn't start in the first two seconds of the movie. But there in lies the problem, there wasn't enough action to satisfy my need (Though the futuristic building of earth looked a lot like Blade Runner). Oh, and the story was so minimal I could have sworn it was never there! Yeah sure they had a 15 minute scene explaining the story but then BLAM! back into whatever it is. It was almost as if they thought you would figure out who those people who are chasing them are (Nope, I guess we'll just leave it a mystery until the very end then we'll hit them with a sequel)

God I hope not! especially after the ending to film happened, if they did make another one it wouldn't make sense.

All-In-All
This was an fun entertianing film to watch, and if they come out with a orchestral soundtrack all definitely pick that up.

Poor Man's Podcast Episode 1

Actually it was scheduled to be posted yesterday but I had a problem uploading it to the computer but now that the problem has been resolved I am fully ready to record more podcast's. However, my co-hosts are having trouble showing up to record one. And I've been meaning to change the way the podcast is run.

The Way this podcast is going to work is like this, I search around the web for interesting movie news (About 3-5 things) and we sit around and talk about what we think of them, but at the end of all the questions we will then talk about things that we hate in movies that make us want to rant on about them.

I being the normal guy of the group am trying to get my other co-hosts to start writing on here as well. but that is something to talk about another day.

3 New Posters (Ok! 2 new Posters)

I was ecstatic when I saw the first two posters, Any Movie with Gerard Butler I would definitely go see. Plus It's from the guys who made "Crank" and "Pathology". I really respect those guys as directors and writers. The Storyline Behind Game is about a man who is forced into this game world where people around the world control real people in a realist Video Game setting. It looks to be an interesting film.

Conan is a no brainer (it's to bad Arnold can't do it). I am not sure what they are going to do with this one. Maybe it's a remake or it could be a new vision of the original.

Tekken is something that will most likely flop. If it's anything like DOA was, I don't see how they can make a story out of a fighting game. This does tie into what I wrote earlier that If the studios had the creators help them more then maybe it would be somewhat decent enough to rent.

Spielberg Still Directing Tintin

Rumors that Peter Jackson would be taking over the reigns on the first Tintin movie, replacing Steven Spielberg in their joint collaborate effort which was always going to see S pielberg direct the first movie.

If people who actually reported on these rumors used their heads for a second, they wouldn’t need official denials to deem them as being untrue. We know Jackson is…

A) Writing The Hobbit with Fran Walsh, Phillapa Boyens and Guillermo del Toro.

B) Is working on the lengthy post-production schedule for his next movie The Lovely Bones due out October 2009.

Basically, Jackson wouldn’t have the time to fully commit to Tintin and with Spielberg desperately trying to do this project for two decades, I would suggest that nothing will stop him now from helming this first feature. The first movie will be based on the classic stories “The Secret of the Unicorn” and it’s sequel “Red Rackham’s Treasure,” which were written by Tintin creator Herge between 1942 and 1944. Doctor Who writer Stephen Moffat has adapted the stories for screen. The movie will be motion captured animated with 18 year old actor Thomas Sangster playing Tintin and the chameleon Andy Serkis playing Captain Haddock.

I have never read any of these comic strips, nor have I ever heard of them. Thats probably because its old and I'm not. But if spielberg is directing it, I'll probably rent it. It just doesn't look all that interesting to me. That may have something to do with my taste in film. The only comic strip I read is Calvin and Hobbes, Far Side, Garfield, and Dilbert.

By all accounts, it was a watchable, original and entertaining horror film. And it just so happened to make $52 million domestic, on a poultry $9 million budget… and during the summer movie season no less.

After much speculation, Rogue Pictures have officially greenlit a sequel to the film today which will reunite Liv Tyler with several of the villains from the original flick according to Variety. Rogue Pictures believe they have stumbled across “the next Saw franchise” and you know they will milk it as far as they can.

Yes, this film was scary, until an annoying fat chick (and her other annoying blond friends) would start screaming at the top of their lungs. It completely ruined the movie for me. Now, saying that won't stop me from seeing the sequel but I'll probably only see it for the guy who looks really similar to Scarecrow from Batman Begins.

This film probably won't make it past the sequel. The Saw movies are famous for it's Gorey scene's and intelligent twists in the story.

Keanu Reeves to Play Spike In the Live-Action Adaptation of Cowboy Bebop

First Showing is reporting that Keanu “Whoah” Reeves is adding another straight-faced hero to his resume, playing intergalactic bounty hunter Spike Spiegel in the live-action adaption of anime cult-favorite, Cowboy Bebop.

According to First Showing’s “inside source” at Fox studios, Cowboy Bebop has long been buried in the list of movies waiting to be green lit, with Reeves attached to the project for some time now. That bit of star-power, plus some early fan buzz, has motivated Fox to fast-track Cowboy Bebop for a 2010 release; though currently there is no director, writer, or script for the film.

I have been a Cowboy bebop fan since it's American release, And to finally hear that they have decided to make this is a fans dream. And I couldn't have picked a better actor to play as Spike Spiegel.

Now whether this movie will be based on the TV series or the Movie that came after it, I do not know. I Sure hope they do it on the TV series or maybe after the events of the movie. To be honest I wish that the American Studios would work more and more with the actual creators of the show instead of going on their own to create something (I mean look how Speed Racer turned out). If the writer of the Manga and TV Series came together and worked with the american directors to come up with something that both the japanese fan and American fan audience can enjoy will be the great collaboration in Anime to Movie History.

Finally a great western with an amazing cast. Jeremy Irons getting better and better by age. Other then 3:10 to Yuma they haven't come out with any good westerns since Clint Eastwood (But he than gave up the reins to start directing) and yes I loved Flags of Our Fathers.

The fall of the Western genre and the rise of Spaghetti Westerns is disappointing to me.

Dragonball Cancelled, or what?

Apparently the Higher ups at FOX are giving the Dragonball Movie some dirty looks.

When it was first announced that a Dragonball movie was actually happening, a lot of people couldn’t comprehend how such an over-the-top, stylized animated series would possibly work in a live action setting. Then Stephen Chow came on board as a producer and suddenly it seemed like there might be hope. Of course, the movie was originally supposed to be ready for this summer, but Fox ended up pushing it back to April 2009. No official explanation was given, but some wondered if it might be the first sign of trouble. The fact that the movie also had no presence at the San Diego Comic Con only deepened suspicions.

This week we received word from an anonymous source that there may be some truth to this speculation after all. The higher-ups at Fox are not too impressed the footage that has been shot thus far, and are seriously debating shutting the whole thing down. Now I have no idea if this is a real possibility or if the studio is just putting pressure on director James Wong to deliver, but the movie supposedly has a budget of over $100 million and I can understand them wanting to cut some losses while they still can. The thing is, if this is all true, it only makes me that much more interested to see the movie. If it it’s strange enough to scare the suits, it’s gotta be good, right?

I am actually not surprised that the suits don't like what they see. It's their job to criticize the work of the director. And to be honest the source material isn't all that great either. I mean, they are all corporate business people, they take one look at the Dragonball Manga's the first think that will pop into their heads is "This is stupid" because it's their first time being introduced to it. If when they were kids they read it and followed it then they would probably like it more but that's not he case.

Plus the fact that they didn't have anything for the San Diego Comic Con probably pissed a lot of fans off.

But Rumours pass, we'll just have to wait and see.

World of Warcraft Movie?

This clip is of the Cinematic Trailer for Blizzard Entertainment second expansion, "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King." The game is expected to be available later this year.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have a Warcraft Movie based on the popular fantasy video game franchise in development. When the project was announced, it was said to be live-action with a "yet to be determined level" of CG environments and effects. The story would take place about a year before the events in "World of Warcraft" and would be told from the Alliance perspective. No release date for the big screen adaptation has been announced.

Ok, people. I love Huge Epic movies like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars (4, 5, and 6 fuck 1, 2, and 3). And this trailer for the newest game coming out would make an awesome movie. I don't see why those guys over at Blizzard didn't think about making their own version of the movie but in a fully CGI world (of Warcraft). It would make perfect sense. It's a computer game and the game itself in the cinematics they use plenty of CGI so why cant they make a Full 90 min CGI film.

I would definitely go see it. Why? Cause the music is beautiful, the visuals are astonishing, and well it's epic. That should be good enough.

Are the 3 A-list Directors Starting to lose their Touch?

This very confrontational idea came to me while watching a video of those great guys over at The Movie Blog.

The Idea is simply this, Are the 3 big name directors (Tarantino, Lucas, Spielberg) losing their love for directing films. Lucas and Tarantino for the most part seem to do nothing but put there name on a movie and they get most of the fame and money from the success of the film. Since I am a student of film making I don't see the logic in this.

If you grow up and always wanted to direct films, then why stop!? I can understand Lucas stopping since he has the multi-million dollar Lucasfilm, Skywalker Sound, THX. And the continued support from the Star Wars Re-released DVDs.

Tarantino's movie career has spread far and wide. However, his recent release could use some toning up (Grindhouse). And now his next film to which he has nothing to do with (hell Ride) kind of gets me somewhere between my nut sack and my colon. I would understand if your financing the film but I still don't get why he doesn't just make it himself instead of having someone else do it for you and just slapping your name on it for publicity sake.

Spielberg I really have no problem with, he never did anything like those other two mentioned earlier. He directed every movie that had his name on it. This I respect about the man (even if some of his movies weren't my favorite).

Now I'm not saying that I won't watch any of their movies anymore, I'm just saying that I've lost a lot of respect or them as directors.

What I great idea Downey Jr.! A story about people shrouded in familiarity. The idea of a superhero movie that involves more than just the main character is in my eyes a brilliant idea. When it comes to Downey Jr. He has made some really great films in the past half year (A Scanner Darkly,Charlie Bratlett, Iron Man, and Tropic Thunder) And because of these latest money making flicks he has great potential for other great roles. Such as his upcoming Sherlock Holmes film.

Bale's Alleged Assualt Charge Gone!

Batman star Christian Bale will not face charges relating to an alleged assault last month on his mother and sister, prosecutors said Thursday, suggesting their decision was based in part on the family members’ wishes. Christian Bale’s mother accused him of assault the night before the London premiere of “Dark Knight.”

Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to afford a “realistic prospect of conviction,” and ordered police not to take any further action.

The service said in a statement that while it “treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such cases.”

These Allegations in my eyes was complete bullshit. Christian Bale doesn't seem like that kind of person to me. But than again From the show Day Break "Anyone is capable of anything". What I think happened is Some dude saw him yelling something at one of his family members (Dude, Everyone yells at a family member. I do all the time, it's just what families do.) and he took it way out of context and told some reporter, who then reported it to someone else and than came the police.

New Prince of Persia Pics

There is a closer picture but I thought It would be better to show you all the wardrobe of the New Prince of Persia. However, Jake does look like the prince from the Second Game. Not the first one! The first game he was clean shaven with nothing but a small goatee.

I bring up the wardrobe because it looks close to the character at the end of the first game. But they seem to be getting the time lines of the games mixed up when it comes to the looks of the wardrobe and the landscape. Now this has nothing to do with my opinion about if the film will flop or not but with what I'm seeing now I'm not so sure that the people who are huge fans of the games will be happy. But me as a movie fan will go see it and hopefully won't be disappointed by it.

I Thought I should give you all a list of Trailers for upcoming movies, seeing as how I haven't posted anything in a while. I set them up as the ones I want to see the most to the least (Well I'm still gonna see them all anyways but you get the idea) And Here you go:

1) Yes Man

And just when I thought that Jim Carrey stopped making those kind of Comedies. He goes ahead and smacks me in the face with a load YES MAN!!! This Movie, just by watching the trailer looks promising.

2) Valkyrie

All I know is that it's based off of the plans to Assassinate Hitler, and that Tom Cruise Is played a guy with an eye patch, enough said. Plus my friend Jackie will more then likely have mixed feelings about this one.

Kudos My friend for taking an interest in that time period.

3) Punisher: War Zone

I for One, liked the one with Tomas Jayne a whole hell of a lot better then this new guy. but that's probably cause I liked the way He played the character. But this one looks to be a lot more violent that the one better it. Thought the gruesome scene did look a bit cartoony, as does the villain who you will see in the trailer. But you need to remember it is based off of a comic book, and comics do seem to portray way more blood and brain matter then usual so I think they can get away with that.

but Don't get your hopes up about it. Apparently Tomas Jayne was training for month for this movie than when He found out that it was inevitably going to suck he left. Then during the editing stage the director got fired. So it's probably going to flop.

4) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

This Movie I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but this trailer blow me away. I didn't really pay attention to the other movies nor did I bother to read after the second book, But I'm starting to think I should. Because just by watching each movie, and they get progressively darker and darker and the fan base keeps maturing along with the stories is a brilliant setup.

Now I've been a fan of Kiefer Sutherland sense before 24 ever started. I of course am not a big fan of Korean Horror Remakes. The Grudge was one of those rare one's were the original was to cheesy to take seriously. And the Unrated Directors Cut was Freakin' Awesome!

Though it's been a while since I've seen a good Korean Horror Remake that looks really interesting. To watch the trailer click here. It looks as though they placed the scares in the right places, and the gruesome scenes are good enough to make you flinch and look away.

All-in-all I'd have to say that finally they made a good Korean Horror Remake movie that doesn't come off as a rip off.

Why Does No One Tell The Story of Skeletor? Cause He-Mans A Stupid Character Anyway!

To be honest, I always liked He-Man even the one back when I was little, In Fact, that’s the one that I remember as being the best. And it got me thinking, why do people always like “The Good Guys” the guys who think that doing the right thing is the best way. Why do they never like telling the story of the bad guys.

Why has no one told this story? This story has the potential to be SO much more dark, and be told to a more mature and intellectual audience. Why do they have to have such an Amoral value to them. I mean he has got to be on the A list of original villains, along with others likes Shredder and Darth Vader, but one wants to touch this kid friendly franchise and turn it into something with such a grand scheme it rival’s that of 300 on a Epic Scale.

But, No one dares touch it. This I will never understand. Oh sure, they are coming out with an all new CGI He-Man but in the long run it will inevitably flop. Why you ask!? Well let me explain,

1) If it isn’t executed right then everyone will hate it.

2) If it’s to kid-friendly, no adult will EVER want to go see that! Not to mention that kid shows are getting more and more retarded.

3) The concept of them making a new one is absurd in my mind, It’s to late to get kids interested in an old TV character.

4) I’m getting really sick and tired of the whole “Kiddy mind manipulation” they pull in kids shows these days, you know what I’m talking about, He’s a nerdy kid who suddenly has the power of Greyskull, and he turns into this giant muscle bound hero. Please, I grew out of the bullshit “Kiddy Propaganda” when I was 7.

To me, Skeletor has always been a more interesting character then He-Man. He-Man is nothing more then your average Muscle hero who always seems to win over every obstacle that gets thrown his way. I really HATE that! I always wanted to know how Skeletor came to be the way he is, and why he does what he does. And I know that there has to be some back story as to why he hates He-Man so much, And I know a lot of you are going to say “It’s because Skeletor is evil, and He-Man has to stop his evil ways etc etc!” Well, you know what!? Some of us don’t buy that “Saturday Morning Bullshit!”

You want to know what I think happened. What if He-Man and Skeletor were once friends, and then one day He-Man up and decides that (younger, not bony) Skeletor is getting to powerful for his own good and betrays Young Skeletor in the midst of battle and leaves him for dead. But he survives and seeks revenge for his brethrens betrayal. Of course, He-Man being the arrogant, and cocky bastard that he is, denies it and continues to try and silence Skeletor from revealing the truth.

AH-HA!! GREAT IDEA YOU SAY!? I SHOULD WRITE A SCRIPT YOU SAY!? OH, HOW IRONIC! I AM!!!!!

Please tell me what you think they should do to the He-Man Franchise, Continue it or dismiss it?

When Hugh Jackman surprised everyone at Comic Con, to show his new movie "Wolverine: Origins" It got me thinking that.

If Mr. Jackman didn't show up at Comic Con, then the movie would continue to get negative reviews and bad Press. But thanks to his honorable devotion to the character of wolverine and to the movie, he showed up not only to promote the movie but to show it the fans who have been dying to see and actually good adaptation to the Wolverine Franchise.

Now because he did this, EVERYONE is going to go see this movie. I know I am. Of course, this movie could end up being a whole hunch of shit, but I think that Hugh Jackman wouldn't sign onto a movie this would suck, Especially with this character that he grow to love to play.

All-in-all I hope this movie ends being good cause the trailer looks awesome.

Is Video Pirating Really A Bad Thing?

For one thing people need to take into account that I'm not talking about Copyrighting, I'm talking about if they show a video at Comic Con or any other place then why cant people show them on the Internet for all those who never had a chance to go to such events.

Now, I know, that a lot of movie corporations don't want that sort of stuff leaked out to soon. But as someone who doesn't have the money or the time to go to those sort of things I wish that the Corporations would be a little more lenient on the matter.

Heroes

If You haven't watched the show, DON'T READ any further. There are no spoilers but I do explain a lot of what happens with the (So-called) villain of the show.

Now, I know this isn't a movie but I can't help but talk about this show. Why?

Because it's pissing me off as to how repetitive this show is. Let me explain:

SEASON 1: A man named Gabriel Grey (aka Sylar) kills everyone how could have made a good character in the story. Every attempt at killing him gets foiled, even when they do have him he somehow manages to escape and kill more people (at this point I was extremely aggravated at the creators for being so stupid). So but the end of the season all my assumptions about the second series being lamer then this one were set.

SEASON 2: Sylar is Back but he doesn't have his powers anymore cause they gave him so kind of virus that will eventually kill him. But for some reason they keep showing his story throughout the entire 11 episodes of the season, with these two mexican people (Maya and her brother who eventually dies) but either why I hate their stupid storyline. Then by the end of the season he injects himself with something (I'm not saying what it is cause it will ruin the story) and he gets his powers back.

And here's were I say GOD DAMMIT NOT AGAIN!!!!!! Oh great he's back to start killing off other people with abilities.

Though the title for third Season is "Villains" So hopefully Sylar will FINALLY die!!

Why the Sudden Rise In Retarded Movie Viewers?

My biggest concern in the movie audiences of today is that people don't care for the subtle moments in movies, all they want is nonstop action. When infact if the movie was nonstop action it would get repeditive relatively quickly. and you need to let the audience have a breather every now and then. I for one love action type movie's that make you have to sit and think about what happened by the end of the movie. I'm not like most retards out there who need the plot of the movie to be spelled out using queue cards of hugely over-acted exposition.

It's almost as if you need nonstop action just keep their attention on the screen, cause God Knows! If, for just a second, there is a subtle moment in the movie they might shift their attention to the floor, or the dude with weird hair in front of them.

STATEMENT
Black Humor! It's Not Funny Anymore!!

Ok, i will admit, Black humor was funny in the early to mid 90's. But not anymore! With the coming of Eddie Murphy. We all laughed at his Fat Black man jokes. and then came Chris Tucker and Chris Rock. I'm not a big fan of either of these two, but they were great for their time. Nowadays black humor just isn't funny to average movie watcher. I mean, racist jokes were at the time really funny. But know it's just to embarrassing to say anything unless your a black dude. Cause if a white dude says a black joke then automatically he's catagorized as a Racist. So if that's true then if a Black dude says a White joke, then shouldn't we assume that that's also a Racist joke, and that he should also be considered a racist!?

With the release of Scary Movie 3 and 4, and following their pitiful success came some the biggest idiotic failure of those years, such as: Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Meet the Spartans, and now coming ever closer to it's release, Disaster movie.

Here's were I get confused, If everyone knows it's going to be a huge flop. Then why do they go to see it. I can understand if your doing a movie review (But thats just cause you have to go, hell your getting payed for it), but if your retarded friend who has HORRIBLE taste in movies went ans saw it and thought it was an absolute laughfest, Don't go watch it! I'm pretty sure if you do go see it you'll come out 10% less intelligent than when you walked in.

Star Trek!

Abrams: I fell in love with the relationships between the characters. I fell in love with the characters. The idea of – it's so funny because you hear something so often and it loses it's meaning. But "space, the final frontier" – if you actually consider space as uncharted territory there's something about the idea of these people, because any ship flying by isn't going to get you excited. It's who's on the ship that matters. I feel like these characters actually going out into that nothingness and finding something is great. Having lived with it now and gotten to know the characters and worked with amazing actors who portrayed them, it made me fall in love with that notion, that idea that for some reason never struck me the way that "Twilight Zone" did.

When I first saw the "really" short trailer for this movie, of course I was a little bit skeptical of how it would be able to play with all the others. Seeing as how Shatner will never do this franchise again and Nemoy is why to old to play Spock. But, being a fan of J.J's previous film "Cloverfield" I should be more faithful to his style.

When I first saw the giant poster for this movie I was a little skeptical of how it would play out, but watching the trailer got me to change my opinion of the movie.

Space Chimps

I was a huge fan of the first Shrek so this movie looks to be a promising fun kids movie, that maybe I might enjoy aswell. If they don't ruin it by making a sequel.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

I saw this trailer when I went to see Hancock, now I'm not big on old movie remakes (War of the Worlds) but this movie looks awesome. I was browsing through my old movie collection and I found my original DVD classic copy of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" I've been waiting for someone to finally make a better "Remake"

At first I thought it was a trailer for Akira (the movie!!). But I was awesomely mistaken.

Hancock Review (SPOILERS)

This movie to me, defined the difference in most Super Hero movies. most super hero movie are uplifting, and momentous. Hancock was neither. It was dark and to be honest very human.

THE GOOD

This movie is on my top 5 favorite super hero movie of all time. Why, well the visuals for one thing, though they were noticeable in some parts of the movie (like the jail scene when Hancock jumps over the fence then back again). The story was semi-original and funny. In the story it showed that no all heroes are born or brought up with the mentality of being a great Super Hero. Plus they explain the mythology of their race good enough that they really don't have to show a flashback (Damn you Family guy and your stupid flashback jokes in every single episode!!!)

THE BAD

The storyline dragged in so many places, it felt like you could easily go and take a piss, or go to get a refill and when you'd come back you wouldn't have missed anything (I know cause about halfway through I had to take a leak.) OH! And the cinematography in this film was horrendous. Ok, I'm not to big on the whole every shot his to be on a dolly, but when every single shot in the movie is shaking (so bad that I cant even se what going on in the scene) is way to much.

All-in-all its a great film just don't mind the shaking and you'll do alright.

Will Bootlegging Bring Movie sales to a hult in the coming future?

To be perfectly honest I had no idea that bootlegging started so far back (but the name had to come from somewhere), or that it had to do with liquor.

Nowadays the term "Bootlegging" has to do with stealing movies and posting them on the internet. I do not appreciate what this does (or will do) to the film industry. I'm going into this industry so I'm appalled at the lack of respect they give the movie theaters.

What do you people have no patience you cant wait for it to come out on DVD! or you cant spend $20 bucks or a movie? Instead you feel the need to download it for free and not have to spend money! (CHEAP ASS!!!)

Plus do you guys not realize that thats illegal.

Is the Internet Destroying Cinema?

Something caught my eye a while ago. A friend over at themovieblog told me that a online film is in the middle of production. The InterFilm (like it, it's a new word) the film is called Iron Sky (From the creators of Star Wreck) and to be honest if it wasn't for him I probably never would have even heard of this.

The main premise of the film (or at least what I could make out from the Teaser) was that in 1945, the "Nazi's" lauched shuttles to the Moon. They then colonize on it, and in 2018 they will come back.

I'm not to big on German Nazi Propaganda like this, but the film looks very stylized and looks a lot like a film from the 40's being filmed in the future. Now, I know for a fact that a lot of people are going to be horribly offended at this film though I hope people aren't close-minded enough to at least give this InterFilm a chance.

But all this is leading me to this one important subject. Like the title says is the Internet bringing the Movie Theater sales to a halt. I'm seeing a lot of websites that show the movie as they are coming out (I won't name any of the websites cause I like to watch the tv shows they have on there).

Hey what can I say, I'm not made of money. How am I supposed to buy every season of my favorite shows when they run for $40-$60 a Season (Forget that Shit!). But they do cause a problem for the Movie Theaters, if things keep going the way they are the movie theaters will go out of business cause everyone is now watching them at home instead at the theater.

I for one love going to the theater and watching a good movie on the Big screen with a group of my closest friends and then hanging out for the rest of the night. All these Internet Movie's are in my eye's, an abomination of the art. Oh sure it's easy for all you who have a perfect working Computer and great internet. But for those of us who have Shitty computers and can't even watch things on Youtube. It'll be tough on us to watch these InterFilms. Plus who would want to hang out at a friends house and uncomfortably watch a movie on a 17" computer screen.

Not Me!

So what do you all think? Would you prefer to watch the movie at home or would you watch it with friends on the big screen. Remember you'd still have to pay to watch them either way.
